    ASBESTOS AWARENESS

    LEGIONELLA MANAGEMENT

    ASBESTOS MANAGEMENT

A Legionella awareness course for all persons involved with commercial, industrial, care or domestic premises.

Legionella is a potentially fatal organism that can be present in hot and cold water systems. The risks are higher where water is stored and where ‘spray’ can occur, such as from taps and showers. It is important (and a legal requirement) to ensure that proper risk assessments are carried out and all relevant employees are properly trained in Legionella awareness and risk control.

This course covers the basic biology of Legionella and how it can cause Legionnaires Disease, as well as pragmatic control measures and precautions that can be taken to reduce the risks. It also covers relevant legislation, high risk groups of people and the duties of employers and employees.

The course is intended as a general introduction to Legionella and its management and is suitable for all persons involved in the care, housing and property industries as well as all businesses who are responsible for the maintenance of their premises.

An asbestos awareness course for people who may come into contact with asbestos during their normal work.

This course describes the origins and uses of asbestos and discusses in detail the difference between real and perceived risk. It follows with the large increase in asbestos related deaths over the last few years and the changes in types of people who contract asbestos related diseases. The course also details modern legislation and how asbestos related risk can be minimised.

The course is intended as a general introduction to asbestos and asbestos risk management and is suitable for all persons whose work involves commercial, industrial or domestic buildings constructed before the year 2000.

A Legionella management course for people who are involved in the ‘management’, ‘control’ or ‘monitoring’ of Legionella within buildings or who manage persons with Legionella control or monitoring duties.

This course includes all aspects of the Legionella Awareness course but covers in more depth the legal duties of the employer, Legionella management, control and monitoring techniques and practical steps that can be taken to manage Legionella risk.

An asbestos management course for people who are involved in the ‘duty to manage’ asbestos within buildings or who manage persons likely to come into contact with asbestos.

This course includes all aspects of the Asbestos Awareness course but covers in more depth the legal ‘duty to manage’, asbestos management plans and work on asbestos containing materials.

The Asbestos Awareness course provides delegates with a general awareness of the hazards and risks associated with asbestos. Training covers the key legal and practical implications for those who may come across asbestos in the course of their work and provides guidance on minimising risk.

This training should be given to employees whose work could foreseeably disturb the fabric of a building and expose them to asbestos or those who supervise or influence the work.

The Asbestos Management programme is composed of two modules. You will complete the Asbestos Awareness module and then build upon that with the Asbestos Management module. This programme covers a general introduction to asbestos and asbestos risk management, and expands that to include in depth the legal ‘duty to manage’ and asbestos management plans.

The Legionella programmes cover the risks that responsible persons need to be aware of, as well as the measures that can and should be taken in order to prevent water becoming contaminated and affecting those susceptible to Legionnaires' Disease.
